CARMEN

The project Carmen_Nous sommes toutes des étoiles is being developed in the Lavanderia thanks to the dialogue between various local subjects, dance schools and artists involved first and foremost, and the choreographer Anna Basti as a point of activation to reflect on the contents that the great ballets and classical works have and continue to convey. The aim is to imagine a rewriting of the work with groups of non-professionals or specific communities, questioning the hierarchy of bodies that classical ballet expresses and the dynamics

 relational that its plot brings into play. Rereading not only the ballet but the figure of Carmen herself as the incarnation of the revolutionary power of the feminine, understood as a sensual, desiring, instinctive force, the project activates a process of rediscovery of the potential of the body and dance also with respect to current issues that surround us: from the question of gender, to patriarchy and the relationship with what our society relegates to

 marginal area and otherness. Investigating the rewriting of the repertoire is a key to transforming the perception that young bodies in training have of it, as a potential basin and not as a static and dusty basin and therefore trying together to produce a new narrative or new narratives that can relate those works to our everyday life.
