ESTREMO REMOTO
Each archival action has to do with a chronological arc that expresses itself in an extreme remote or extreme recent . Estremo Remoto connects contemporary dance with the stories hidden in the State Archives of Trieste, offering the viewer a particular point of observation on the records of reception of exposed and orphans between 1770 and 1909. The series consists of 82 logs that trace the reception of the abandoned creatures and delivered to the wheel of exposed. In addition to the name of the child, the mother’s name, place and date of birth and baptism, the date of delivery for feeding and the name of the nurse, the records also contain the exposure signal number.
The signal is a small paper wrapper that can contain a bow, a medal, a card, a half-size game card, a ribbon, a letter...with the function of allowing the identification of the child in case of return.
Starting from the signals Marta Bevilacqua (Compagnia Arearea - Udine) and Stefano Mazzotta (Compagnia Zerogrammi - Torino) activate a choreographic research that has for coordinate concepts as body/memory/archive/border.
Just as dance is the result of movements and gestures that precede us and belong to the collective memory, so history is the result of many seemingly insignificant lives that, intertwined, live the facts. The archival approach compacts objects and geographies that make of the person a memory that dances.
