ALCESTI (O DEL SUONO DELL'ADDIO)

Alcesti is the story of a tragic and heartbreaking farewell between two lovers, the topos of literature of all times and at all latitudes. It is a tragedy full of immense love that differs from other mythical goodbyes, including that of Hector and Andromache near the Scaean gates, or the Shakespearean ones. It is the tragedy of a love teetering on the brink of its end, the story of an absence that starts embracing the loss.
There is an untold space within the tragedy, empty and filled with deafening silence. A period of time without length, starting when Alcesti leaves the world and ending with her sacrifice. In this time frame "Alcesti” is built: the monologue of a woman who explores the silent limbo between life and death, a soliloquy about the essence of memory, the deep truth of things. Here, the dance becomes poetry and music. Alcesti looks nostalgically at the horizon behind her. Dizziness memory. Her body sounds the Requiem of a lost elsewhere and retains its last breath that separates her from a new unknown condition. From this boundary she will move over the prison of forgetfulness and noise, in a poetic, quiet and suspended time. The language is fragmented, made of lively voices or echoes of music and sounds about farewell: the noise of coats worn before leaving home, the noise of a tender kiss on the cheek and then, the silent rise of the soul.

(...) la creazione si distingue per potenza comunicativa, pulizia e rigore nell'immagine e intensa portata emotiva. Stefano Mazzotta si conferma una voce autoriale matura e Zerogrammi una realtà di produzione ormai in pieno sviluppo, pronta per misurarsi in composizioni di largo respiro: una prospettiva ampia che, in tempi di studi e di brevi performance, viene a mancare nel lavoro di molti coetanei.

(...) il coreografo, gioca con l’estetica e la tecnica di una maniera molto particolare, convince e cattura, proprio perché le sue opere sono colme di misticismo, umanità, libertà; il tema classico che ha scelto è del resto carico di significato, e nello spettacolo la poca astrazione è contrastata con tanta narrazione e riflessione. E' nell'espressività della danza che il dramma di Alcesti si attualizza e diviene domanda rispetto alla relazione d'amore e a quanto ad essa, in senso universale come sul piano individuale, ognuno è disposto a dare di sé. Ciò che emerge soprattutto nel passo a due finale, incontro e scontro di Alcesti con colui che per lei è la vita e l'amore stesso e senza il quale mai nessuna sopravvivenza sarebbe posssibile.
