PRISCILLA PIZZIOL + EDOARDO SGAMBATO
AMELIA
Two bodies inhabit a chair; they tell the story of a life together, sharing their loneliness and trying to retain past experiences, worlds and times. The (non)storytelling goes on by jumbled fragments; a constant stream of memories - and non-memories - to which the two characters try to cling. Bodies touch, interlock, support and hold on to each other in an attempt to keep memories alive, not to lose those small gestures through which they recognize themselves. The story hypothetically moves through several spaces, but in reality it inhabits only one, the chair. A single object as a reference point to return to in order to recompose one's past and understand the present. The chair exists, breathes, knows every secret; it becomes the place capable of guarding confusions and feelings. In the performance as in memory, time is not linear; the unfolding of memories con-fuses with a present in which gestures, sounds, faces and places mingle into a blurred set of memories. The performance is freely inspired by the dramaturgical investigation of Florian Zeller's movie "The Father" . The intent of the project is to create a narrative experiment in which bodies, time and space are manipulated; a shared experience between actors and spectators, in the nostalgic pain of absence. A dialogue between solitudes, but with a voice in unison trying to escape the loss: of the other, of memory, of meaning.
